Marc by Marc Jacobs Watch Collection

Back in 2005, I worked in Dallas, Texas for Fossil watches. What most people don't realize is that this mammoth of a company also does licensing (design, distribution, manufacturing, etc) for a handful of the hottest luxury watch brands out there: Michael Kors, Burberry, Armani, Michelle, Diesel to name a few).
So during my first year at Fossil, I received news that they acquired the license for Marc by Marc so naturally I jumped at the opportunity to be the sole designer and ultimately yours truly got the design job! Since it was a new collection, from scratch.. It was one of the intense, passionate, best experiences of my career. Who could ask for more, working with Marc Jacobs and his brilliant design team to develop a watch line that represented their identity.

Here are a few sketches and shots of some of the styles from the launch.

Spring in the city

Saturday was a reminder of why I love this city so much. Perfect spring day where the combination of the sun and breeze made being outside almost magical. Met my cousin for brunch before she had to get back to packing, and the location couldn't be more perfect because it was just a block away from the park. So I set out to get lost in Central park, watched people picnicing, couples in the row boats, took a rest watching some great jazz outdoors and then went to the Guggenheim to finally see the "I want to Believe" exhibit. I tried to sneak in some pictures but they were pretty adamant about the no photo policy. too bad for me.

Vox 2008

Even though we were all hungover, or wanting to enjoy our Sunday outside, we made it to Vox 2008, small samplers of modern takes on opera.

Swiss Miss

Lou here, finally starting my blog entry numero 1.

Just came back from a quick trip from Baselworld. This marks my third year so I guess I am a regular now? Baselworld is this enormous, annual international watch and jewelry fair. Pretty amazing product is shown there where they create these elaborate booths (more like structures/sculptures) in under 72 hours and once the fair is over, its quickly deconstructed.

Here are a couple of my favorites:

The D&G Booth, this is the second or third year, the entire area is covered by these LEDs and can get so trippy that people can't figure out how to get out of the booth. ha.

This would be my favorite booth created by Breitling. It is an actual fish tank, not plasma and its effing huge. So cool, huh?

Here are some other pictures from the trip, mostly taken from inside the train to Basel. I stayed in Zurich, sigh.. wish I could've seen the city better.

The Bahnhoff (train station). So beautiful, like an outdoor Grand Central Station but with cafes, shoppes, etc. Pretty cool installations too
